Electric City Go Karts (Strikes and Spares – Mishawaka) Video
by CpU on Feb.21, 2010, under Cars, CpU Videos, Michiana, Reviews, Tubers, Video
While driving past Strikes and Spares bowling alley, you have probably noticed the big Electric City Go Karts sign out front. If you sitting there thinking, “Electric? How is that fun?” Don’t let the word Electric fool you, they are fast and the course is challenging.
The ride lasted about 3 min and 30 seconds. This was shorter than the 4 minutes promised, which kind of disappointed me. Paying $6.00 for a ride, you’d expect every second out of it…
The cars are monitored by a central device that controls the cars maximum speed or disables them in case of a crash. I noticed on a few occasions that the car would be going slower, then pick up speed in the middle of the race. Accidents and bumping does happen on this track, so caution is necessary. Electric City Go Karts states that you drive at your own risk.
| Regular Track | Junior Track |
| $6 | $4 |
| 54” or Taller | 4+ years of age |
This is some video taken of the Junior track I found on YouTube.

Saturday: 10 AM – 1 AM
Sunday: 12 pm – 8 PM
And this is just some random video from YouTube of someone with a 50,000 Watt Electric Go-Kart
So what’s new with Mega Play in Mishawaka, Indiana (2010)
by CpU on Jan.30, 2010, under Michiana
| If you haven’t been to Mega Play in a while you might notice that things are a bit different now. The layout has stayed pretty much the same but with more games, and a different way to play! Meaning no more tokens…
They could fix their sign though. |
|
| Mega Play now has rechargeable pay cards. No more handing out a hundred tokens anymore and worrying about what runny nosed kid had his fun-filled finger tips all over your tokens before you got to them.
They have discounts for the more credits you buy on the card. For $20 you receive 110 credits, which turns out to be 5.5 credits a dollar. If you pay in the small amounts it ranges from 4-5 credits per dollar amount. |
|
| The games range from 2 credits to 4 credits typically. With easy swipe access, you don’t have to worry about the machine taking your coins either. This is just one of the lining walls of the place with racing games. | |
| They have 2 DDR Machines, a whole section of first person shooters, old style games, and of course a section of all pinball… The quality of the games range based on how much credits they cost. The majority of the games are pretty decent, but some are very old school.
Looking to play some virtual baseball? You can get in the batters cage and swing a few and see how well you do. This of course is nothing new from before, so it does look like it has been around a bit. |
|
| Now where to stick those youngster that want to run around and do whatever they can see…
They have a 1 door little guy’s area. This area is limited to certain sized kids and cost $3.50 for the day. They get a wrist band to go in and out freely. Complete with a ball pin, tubes, and tot toys. |
|
| They also have the blow up bouncing room for the kids to jump and play in. Caution though – this could be dangerous. When I was younger I was jumping in something similar and I ended up smacking my knee into my jaw and biting a good part of my tongue off. So always use caution with your kids…! | |
| Oh and the old favorite… Gladiators! Take down the opposing force with your gladiator stick. It’s been around since I could remember! They supply you head pads for safety and is monitored by a staff member to insure no problems occur. |
We only spent about $30 dollars, and have about 60 credits left over. Was fun for the kids, and took up about 4 hours of our time… Not too bad Mega Play.
