The Sims 3 – xBox 360 Guide: Tinker away!

Sims_3-GuideFirst thing you will want to do is read one skill into Handiness to start tinkering with objects around the house. Go to your bookshelf and start reading volume 1 of your handiness book. Once your skill bar fills up, you can start tinkering items such as:

  • Stove
  • Dishwasher
  • T.V.
  • Toilet
  • Sinks
  • Shower
  • Computer

Tinkering is a great way to increase your handiness skill for your job. So while you are upgrading your house hold items to do more things, you also will start earning raises and benefits from gaining more levels in that skill.

You will first need to tinker the items 1-2 times until they will start showing you upgrades. Upgrades include self-cleaning, fire resistant, and unbreakable. You can only have one so what I usually do is pick the unbreakable and allow my maid service to clean everything everyday. This creates a hassle free environment, but you will have to fix things here and there – but that’s okay! Fixing things increases your handiness skill even more allowing you to complete repairs and handiness tasks quickly and easily.

When tinkering electronics, you end up giving that electronic more options for the Sims to do. More T.V. Stations, different things to do on the computer, and much more. Find out what the upgrades do, and start swinging away… Don’t worry your Sim won’t break it – Hopefully!

I’ve just started playing my new Sim3 X box game and want to know how I can place all my families into the same town. How do I save my games so they don’t get saved in their own separate towns?

      Kaz,

You will not be able to mingle two saved games together. To build a family within your town you must first grow a family with kids, preferably two, so that when your first generation dies – you will then have two kids who will go there separate ways and build their own family.

Now you will see your other saved Sims popping up in your games. They will have the same names and clothing – but this is completely random. They will not have a house.

When the kids are all grown up with good jobs, they can move out. By splitting up your growing family tree, this creates a Sims town full of your Sims.

      Good luck!
